Stroke is the leading cause of permanent disability. Stroke in progression （SIP） is one of the most lethal and disabling type. Studying the clinical and imaging manifestations of SIP has become a core issue of clinicians. This paper reviews the research progress of the disease development of the patients with SIP by using a variety of imaging techniques.
