Skeletal muscle fibrosis changes muscle structure and interferes with the regeneration of muscle fibers and the recovery of contraction function, ultimately damaging muscle fiber function, promoting the occurrence and development of diseases, and affecting the quality of life of patients. During this process, Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and its downstream effector, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) have been shown to promote collagen production and tissue fibrosis. This article reviews the regulation of skeletal muscle fibrosis by the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.
